Kingscliff Sporting Lodge, Aberdeenshire

Kingscliff Sporting Lodge is a unique country venue, where locals, outdoor types and tourists can be found sheltering from the cold in front of a roaring open fire and enjoying an excellent selection of Scottish malt whiskies, Scottish real ales, wines and juices. The pub's fine whisky selection is tended by Doug Lamont, who has more than 40 years experience in the bar trade, and features many of the local Highland malts. The nearest distillery is Glen Garioch of Oldmeldrum, which is just nine miles away, and tours of the distillery can can be arranged for guests, as well as tutored tastings in the pub.

Kingscliff is the area's leading activity centre and clay shooting ground and later this year will be opening wooden lodges in the grounds accommodating up to 20 people. The pub is situated in a converted byre and excellent local food served is accredited by Eat Scotland. The pub is also listed in 'The Good Beer Guide'.

In summer, guests can sit in the garden and enjoy lovely views across rural Aberdeenshire - and for those who want to be active, there are a wide range of activities on offer at the centre all year round and for all ages, as well as some great walking and cycle routes in the local area.
