The Mash Tun - Aberlour, Speyside

With its own distillery, shortbread factory and situated on the banks of the river Spey, Aberlour is the quintessential Highland village.  It is the perfect place to enjoy a dram and luckily it is also home to one of Speyside's leading Whisky bars: The Mash Tun.

Overlooking the Spey and taking its name from the vessel used in Whisky distilling, The Mash Tun is steeped in Whisky heritage.  With links to many local distilleries it has an extensive range of Single Malt Whiskies and is one of only two places in the World to boast a full set of Glenfarclas distillery's family  cask range on sale by the dram (and the only place in Europe!).

Owners Karen and Mark Braidwood spent 18 month renovating the business to bring it up to the standards they expect.  As a result, for those wishing to stay the evening, the bar now has five superior rooms (3 doubles, a single and a family room) - each named after one of the famous Speyside distilleries - and serves local sourced, freshly produced dishes for lunch and dinner.
