The Single Malt that started it all.

Since 1824 the wild and remote setting of Glenlivet distillery has been the home of the single malt that inspired the Speyside region. From this beautiful glen comes the raw combination of elements -from the mineral rich spring waters of Josie's Well, the crisp mountain air and uncompromising terrain comes a Scotch Whisky of infinite elegance.
Come and discover the secrets of the greatest malt whisky of all -The Glenlivet.

NEW EXHIBITION - Follow the ribbons of time

Visitors have a choice of routes to take as they embark on their journey to The Glenlivet, stepping across the gigantic Ordnance Survey map of the area as they get their bearings

Follow "The Spirit of the Glen" to learn about the extraordinary chemistry between climate and terrain that produces the perfect conditions for making malt whisky. The glen's remarkable natural resources, and what they do for The Glenlivet, are clearly depicted with clever visual devices highlighting key aspects.

Visitors who follow "The Glenlivet Legacy" will hear as well as see how one man's courage and vision remain an inspiration to this day. By activating the sound commentary or reading the display narrative (or by doing both), they can tune into the colourful stories and events that make up the history of The Glenlivet.

The two paths, each with the same destination, run parallel to each other so that visitors can move from one to the other en route. As they leave the exhibition, passing an evocative display of largely vintage photographs, visitors are confronted by a massive, abstract, tree-like sculpture from whose spiralling "trunk" are suspended countless bottles of The Glenlivet.

This inspirational work of art stunningly symbolises the upward and onward momentum of The Glenlivet journey. The single malt that started it all just goes from strength to strength.
