Outstanding achievement for Scotch Whisky supermo

Alastair McIntosh, Deputy Chairman of one of Scotland?s leading visitor attractions, the Scotch Whisky Experience beside Edinburgh castle, has been honoured with one of the drinks industry's most elite awards.

Alastair, who established the popular Edinburgh attraction in 1988, received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition Banquet, held at a glittering ceremony attended by over 500 guests from all over the world in London's Guildhall.  Sponsored by leading drinks manufacturer, Diageo, the award recognises excellence in promoting the understanding, growth and development of Scotch whisky around the globe and is testament to Alastair?s 45 years experience in the industry.  

The accolade comes as the Scotch Whisky Experience embarks on a £2m new tour, a major investment for the attraction which aims to enhance its appeal worldwide. Opening in Spring 2009 the new tour will explore the unique processes and diverse regions which characterise Scotland's national drink, and will be translated in to over 15 languages.

As well as the new tour the Scotch Whisky Experience is home to an award-winning restaurant, Amber, and runs renowned whisky schools and tutored tastings, available for both large and small groups.
