Benromach announce Spirit of Speyside photography winner 2008

The winner of the Benromach 'Festival Moments' Photographic Competition has been announced.   Gunnel Palmér from Norrköping, Sweden captured the moment in May whilst visiting Scotland during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2008.

Visitors were invited to submit photographs that captured special moments from the annual celebration of Scotland's national drink.  Over 90 entries were submitted to the judges before Gunnel's image, entitled "Slainte" (Cheers), was declared the winner.

Gunnel explains the situation that led to her capturing the winning Festival Moment. "This year was my sixth visit to the Festival.  I love visiting the area to enjoy many wonderful whiskies, experience the beautiful surroundings and to meet so many interesting people from throughout the world.  One of the things with the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival is that you always experience something special.  My photograph captures the split second before my husband Thomas and I enjoyed a very unique Festival Moment!"

Entries are currently being invited for the Benromach Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Photographic Competition 2009.

Both amateur and professional photographers can submit entries into two categories: 'Landscapes of Greater Speyside' and 'Spirit of Speyside'.   The closing date for entries is 30th of October 2008.  Judging will take place in January 2009 with short listed entries forming a travelling exhibition to promote the 2009 Festival.  The winners of the trophies and prizes will be announced at the Opening Gala Dinner in May 2009.
