Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard, is celebrating following the news that Strathisla Distillery has been awarded Five Star status by Visit Scotland, the country's official national tourism organisation. Strathisla Distillery is the third of the company?s visitor centres to maintain or achieve the highest Visit Scotland accolade in the past year, with The Glenlivet and Aberlour Distilleries recently enjoying the same success.
The Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Scheme was set up to help tourists distinguish the quality of visitor attractions and accommodation around the country. Quality Advisors assess each and every outlet by visiting the venue without prior notice and rating it against a wide range of criteria, including ease of access, interior layout and staff efficiency.
Commenting on the win, Visitor Centres Manager for Chivas Brothers Caroline Mitchell said: "This is a fantastic result for us and perfectly timed to coincide with our involvement in Homecoming Scotland, the year-long celebration of all things Scottish. Strathisla has a long established reputation as a distinguished dram and is prized by the industry as an excellent visitor centre facility."
She continued: "Having maintained our Five Star status since 2001, our staff at Strathisla Distillery are delighted with the award which shows that we are consistently giving visitors and tourists a first class experience."
Strathisla Distillery is the Scottish Highlands' oldest working distillery. It was restored to its former glory by Chivas Brothers in the 1950s and became known as 'The spiritual home of Chivas Regal'. Visitors to the distillery can enjoy a unique guided tour of the buildings and witness every stage of the Scotch whisky making process, followed by a tasting of the single malt.
