Press release issued 24th June 2008
Highland Park 30 year old has been awarded the a'bunadh Trophy for Special Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2008.
Translated from Gaelic, "a'bunadh" literally means 'the origin' and this trophy is one of the most prestigious in the competition.
Jason Craig, Global Controller of Highland Park commented: "Since its launch Highland Park 30 year old has received plaudits from experts and enthusiasts alike. After being named Distiller of the Year* and the World's Best Spirit**, this trophy is the icing on the cake. It?s a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our team at the distillery."
The International Wine & Spirits Competition promotes the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs. All entries are blind tasted and are divided by variety, region and vintage. After a further tasting of the highest scoring products in the specified categories, the trophies are presented to the very best of the year's entries in specific categories.
First released in 2005, Highland Park is bottled at 48.1% ABV and has a rich bouquet, with hints of rich oak, chocolate and fudge. On the palate it gives a rich burst of full flavour with soft honey and nutty toffee and has a rich long finish, which is surprisingly sweet for its age.
Highland Park 30 year old is priced at £180 (RRP) and is available from specialist whisky shops.
