GLENGOYNE DISTILLERY is celebrating a double win in this year?s first round of the prestigious Scottish Field Whisky Challenge (SFWC), with two of its Limited Edition Single Casks taking both first and third place in the battle of the New Scotch Whisky Releases (between November 2007 and March 2008).
The Glengoyne 14 Years Old Single Cask was awarded a rare First Class and Overall Winner status, while Robbie?s Choice, the 18 Years Old Glengoyne Single Cask, was also highly praised, taking another 'First Class' rating - making Glengoyne the first distillery to ever take two podium places in the 7 year history of the SFWC.
Launched in 2001, the SFWC, is a 'blind' tasting of Scotch whiskies and universally acknowledged as one of Scotch whiskies most significant taste tests. The esteemed panel of nine independent experts including:
The Glengoyne 14 Years Old and 18 Years Old 'Robbie's Choice' were launched in November 2007 to meet the growing demand from Glengoyne enthusiasts keen to discover new and rare expressions from the highly respected distillery. Both expressions were handpicked by the team of experts at Glengoyne and personally approved by Distillery Manger, Robbie Hughes.
Judges were 'dazzled' by both Glengoyne entries. Praised for its rich and smouldering spicy palate, the 14 Years Old was a favourite with all the judges. Charlie Maclean in particular was taken by its "very long, warm finish and deep toffee development." While judge Darren Leitch agreed with Robbie Hughes' description of The 18 Years Old as "pure pleasure", proclaiming "Everything in the glass just yells out sheer class!".
The Glengoyne Single Casks fought off competition from Talisker 25 Years Old, Rosebank 25 Years Old, Highland Park Ambassadors Cask 33 Years Old, Glenlivet 34 Years Old and Bruichladdich 16 Years Old, to name but a few.
These exceptional malts are limited worldwide to 296 bottles of the 14 Years Old and 277 for the 18 Years Old.

These new bottles join the award-winning core range, which includes the single malt 10 Years Old, 12 Years Old cask strength, 17 Years Old and 21 Years Old.
