The Bow Bar, West Bow, Edinburgh

The Bow Bar is in the great tradition of a Scottish Free House: Gantry stuffed full of Malt Whisky, Real Ales on air-dispense, lunchtime pies, antique mirrors, the hubbub of conversation, a dog curled up by the stove, and, of course, the occasional bit of polite, friendly and mutually respectful banter between staff and regulars.

Our Gantry, rescued from an old church, houses 200-odd Single Malt and from the 21st July - 31st July 2011 we will be holding our Summer Beer Festival with 75 different beers from 40 different breweries!

There is always a core of the popular and familiar but our philosophy is experimental. Single Casks, various Finishes (within reason), New Releases, Requests and Recommendations, Whims and Fancies.

As well as the many Distillery brands, recent Independent bottlings include Adelphi, Berry Bros, Bladnoch Forum,  Cadenhead's, Chieftain's, Dewar's Rattray,Duncan Taylor, Gordon & McPhail, Provenance, Old Malt Cask, John Scott's, Signatory, The Whisky Shop.

Due to popular demand the list changes continually.

Prices from under £3 for 35ml measure. Malt of the Moment offers. Ages from the very young to older than the Landlady?

Our Staff are a wee bit enthusiastic about the whole subject and chatting about whisky, and finding something to suit your palate, is often the best part of the job.

With all the new distilleries, casks bottled, finishes, fresh ideas, Whisky is the lifetime quest that always brings something different, a road that never ends.

So, join the adventure, glass in hand, friends round you, and raise your glass to 'Slainte' and 'TASTE THAT!' 

Glencairn glasses as standard Water by the gallon, if you wish.
Low-heat lightbulbs on the gantry and No under-18's.

'Our International Bottled Beer selection has just been extended. Negra Modelo, Coopers Sparkling or God Lager, anyone!
