The Whisky Coast is a collaboration of sixteen of the world's best known Whisky distilleries. It was launched in April 2007 with the aims of encouraging visitors and raising the profile of the West Coast of Scotland as an area with a high concentration of distilleries against the backdrop some of the most dramatic, rugged coastline in Europe. The Whisky Coast stretches from Campbeltown in the south to Fort William and Portree in the North. The collaboration includes the Scottish islands of Arran, Jura, Mull, Skye and the most famous of Whisky Islands: Islay. Famed for its peaty Whiskies the coast produces Whiskies as unique as the environment that produces them. The distilleries behind the Whisky Coast have formed a not-for-profit company to promote the area and are working with three of Scotland's leading tour operators to offer Whisky tour of the region. Along with the distillers Turnberry Resort, Kinloch Lodge, Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, The Three Chimneys and Machrihanish golf course are all involved as associates members.
